A time modulated ultra-wide band (TM-UWB) wall penetrating impulse radar currently being developed at Time Domain Corporation, Huntsville, AL, is used to generate two-dimensional (2D) interferometric images (II) of moving targets. The goal is to determine the location of moving people behind walls or non-metallic visually opaque boundaries in real time using such a handheld wall penetrating radar operating under FCC Part 15, Class B limits. Interferometric images of an adult male person walking and crawling on the floor are presented for different types of common walls in front of the radar.
