Both enantiomers of the gypsy moth sex pheromone disparlure are converted to the (7R,8R)-threo diol by epoxide hydrase(s) located in the antennae of the male gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar), as determined by capillary gas chromatography of the diol bis(trifluoroacetate) enantiomers on a chiral stationary phase.
