X‐ray diffraction patterns from electrodes submerged in electrolyte have been obtained during charge and discharge by means of a special test cell, and the composition of the active materials has been determined. The question whether or is formed during discharge has been subject to special attention. The low potential reaction of the positive plate has been studied. The emf and the have been determined between −40° and +50°C at various states of charge.
