Preparation and Properties of, and Reactions with, Metal‐Containing Heterocycles, XI 1) Preparation and Properties of Ethanediyl‐, Propanediyl‐, Pentanediyl‐, and Decanediyl Bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate) The alkanediyl bis(trifluoromethanesulfonates) CF 3 SO 2 OCH 2 [CR 2 ] n CH 2 OO 2 SCF 3 ( 1 , 2 , 2 ′, 3 , 4 ) are obtained from the diols HOCH 3 [CR 2 ] n CH 2 OH with (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 O in the presence of pyridine [R = H:n = 0( 1 ), 1( 2 ), 8( 4 ); R = CH 3 :n = 1( 2 )]. and from tetrahydro‐2 H ‐pyran with (CH 3 SOP 2 ) 2 O [R = H:n = 3( 3 )], respectively. The instability of 2 can be traced back to a dipolar interaction between the protons and the CF 3 SO 3 residues attached to the 1,3‐carbon atoms.
