The author presents an analysis and simulation results relating the range resolution to the receiver frequency resolution in a linear frequency modulated, continuous wave, (FMCW) homodyne radar. He considers the relationship between range resolution and receiver frequency resolution for systems that use the fast Fourier transform (FFT) to form multiple frequency and range bins.
