Klotho reduces apoptosis in experimental ischaemic acute renal failure

Abstract

The data suggest klotho to be involved in the pathophysiology of IRI. Downregulation of renal klotho exacerbates ischaemic acute renal failure, and klotho gene induction has therapeutic potential in managing ischaemic renal damage.
