Abstract

Summary 2-Keto-3-ethoxybutyraldehyde bis(thiosemicarbazone) (KTS) has been shown to have marked carcinostatic and carcinolytic activity against several established rat tumors. Dose-response relationships have been established for its toxicity, tumor-inhibitory activity, and capability of causing regressions. The compound is more safely administered via the oral route than by intraperitoneal injection. The activity of KTS is compared with several related compounds, and some indications of structural requirements for biological activity are noted.
