Abstract Geoelectrical imaging is the preferred method for resolving a wide range of problems associated with the subsurface (Barker, 1997; Rubin and Hubbard, 2005). Modern multielectrode arrays (Griffiths and Turnbull, 1985; Stummer et al., 2002) allow geoelectrical data to be acquired efficiently in diverse environments, and user-friendly inversion software (e.g., Loke, 1999) can be used to convert the recorded data to meaningful subsurface models.
