Abstract

I Would first like to thank you very much for inviting me here to present a paper to you this evening. It is a great honour for me personally to be asked to give the Mackenzie Davidson Memorial Address, and I very much appreciate it. But more than this I feel it is an honour to Swedish Radiology, and so, Mr. President, I would like to take the opportunity of conveying the greetings of the Swedish Radiological Society to the British Institute of Radiology. I can do this from the bottom of my heart as I happen to be president of our society, and it is our sincere hope that now the world is at peace again we shall be able to see more of one another. Next I would like to say a few words about the man in whose memory we are meeting this evening. His name—Mackenzie Davidson—is of course too well known by radiologists not only in your country, but in all civilised countries, for me to tell you more about him. Unfortunately, I am not of his generation and so did not know him, but my old chief, Professor Forssell, knew him and has talked to me of his stimulating personality.
