Acetone serves as the hydrogen acceptor in the kinetic resolution of racemic alcohols catalyzed by a chiral RuII complex. This method provides access to alcohols that are not available from the corresponding ketones by standard enantioselective reduction (examples of substrates are given on the right) and is particularly interesting for meso compounds.
