Towards One‐Dimensional Carbon Wires Connecting Single Metal Centers: A Cumulenic C₅ Chain that Mediates Charge Transfer between Rhenium and Manganese Termini

Abstract

The longest Cn bridge known between two single metal centers is found in the bimetallic complex 1. The structure of 1 is best described by the cumulene resonance form +ReCCCCCMn. A very intense rhenium-to-manganese charge transfer band at 480 nm (ϵ = 60 500M−1 cm−1) suggests that the C5 ligand acts as a “molecular wire”. Counterion: BF
