A single crystal copper nanowire was bent and characterized using high resolution electron backscatter diffraction. The boundary conditions of the experiment were studied using crystal plasticity finite element analysis in conjunction with a dislocation density based constitutive hardening model including geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs). The experiments are compared to the simulations with respect to the distribution of the crystallographic orientations (texture evolution) and the GNDs.
