Abstract Brominations of the isomeric methylpyridines and 2,6‐dimethylpyridine in fuming sulfuric acid have been studied. It was found that in this medium at moderate temperatures bromo derivatives substituted in the pyridine nucleus are formed in excellent yields as sole reaction products. Some of these bromination reactions are satisfactory as synthetic methods.
