Abstract The theory of apparent osmotic pressure obtained with membranes which are partially permeable to the solute is applied to solutions of heterodisperse polymers. An expression for the relation between the measured osmotic pressure and the permeability of the membrane is derived and it is shown how molecular distributions of polymers can be obtained from simultaneous measurements of permeability and osmotic pressure with a given polymer‐solvent‐system and different membranes.
