In volume 1, issue 5 of Obesity Management (OM), I wrote an editorial expressing my belief that the television show, The Biggest Loser, could do more harm than good for our efforts to reduce overweight and obesity in our patients.OM received a great deal of mail about this topic. The responses were mixed. Some people thought that the show provided motivation for people to address their weight; others felt it might have an overall negative impact. The following paper was submitted to OM by a research group in Australia.
