Shaped like an As4C4 cube, the central structural unit of 1 is probably formed through the intermediate arsaalkyne tBuCAs. The very thermally stable 1 can function as a complex ligand, as shown by the reaction with [Fe2(CO)9] to give the [Fe(CO)4] complex. The two compounds were also characterized by X-ray crystallography.
