The present investigation aims at the systematic search for long phosphorescence materials by the assist of combinatorial chemistry method. Four trivalent rare earth elements such as Dy, Nd, Pr, and Ce were introduced into to constitute appropriate trap levels. The quaternary library was achieved by using a tetrahedron-type composition array, and then the long phosphorescence was examined. Another finer screening was also performed based on the result from the quaternary system to search for an optimum composition. On the other hand, the long decay curves were analyzed based on both the second-order process and the tunneling. © 2001 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
