An audit of the provision of environmental control systems in Northern Ireland, 1992–1997

Abstract

ECS are a valuable tool for severely disabled persons and are appropriately prescribed in Northern Ireland. A multidisciplinary team should perform assessment and prescription. All patients should have a practical trial of the equipment to assist in prescriptions. Regular review by the team should be performed to identify changes in need and alter systems appropriately. Users who live alone should represent a priority for repairs.
