Abstract

Nanorods based on the use of small-chain organic ligands as capping agents are synthesized. Neither strong ligands, such as phosphonic acids, nor high concentrations of the reactants are required. Favored crystallization along the c-axis in the wurtzite crystals results in nanorod formation (see image). Longer ligands and higher temperatures induce preferred particle crystallization in the spherical shape.
