Abstract Acetylcholine esterase and the glucose oxidase–peroxidase systems have been entrapped in Silastic matrices. The entrapped acetylcholine esterase exhibited remarkable stability as compared to the free enzyme in solution. The glucose oxidase–peroxidase system indicated that consecutive reactions may be carried out by several enzymes entrapped within a single matrix. The effect of various inorganic materials on the entrapped enzymes was also investigated.
