Abstract

Some effects of CaO, Na 2 O, Sb 2 O 3 , and ZrO 2 additions on Li 0.3 Zn 0.4 Fe 2.3 O 4 ferrite were studied to improve its density and other material properties. The densification behavior of the ferrite depended on the amount and type of additive. A relative density of ∼98.5% was achieved with the addition of CaO. The grain size decreased with the addition of Na 2 O, CaO, and Sb 2 O 3 . The permeability and electrical resistivity increased with additives. CaO remarkably increased resistvity, whereas, ZrO 2 increased permeability. Na 2 O and Sb 2 O 3 increased the Curie temperature, whereas CaO and ZrO 2 decreased it. These effects were attributed to mainly additive segregation on the grain boundaries, which suppressed grain‐size development during the sintering of lithium zinc ferrite.
