Supply-Side Sociology of the Family: The Challenge of the New Home Economics

Abstract

In this paper we review recent developments in microeconomic perspectives on the family. We focus on the household production function, describing both the strengths and weaknesses of the New Home Economics. We also extract some implications for sociological research on the family.
