Concerns about the sediment quality in lake Hussainsagar located in Hyderabad, India have been rapidly increasing recently due to urbanization and industrialization pollution. This study analyzes twelve chemical and heavy metal parameters at the four sampling stations during the year 2013 by using multivariate statistical techniques like Hierarchical clustering, principle component and factor analysis. FA identified five factors responsible for data structure explaining 71.05% total variance and allowed to group selected parameters according to common features. Cd, Cr, Zn, Ag, Ni, & As were associated with similar contributions from anthropogenic sources, whereas SO4 -2 and Cl- are derived from natural sources.
