Abstract

"This article draws from research conducted withacademically successful Puerto Rican students andindividuals identified as exemplary teachers of this groupto inform efforts to improve educational opportunitiesand outcomes for Puerto Ricans in United States schools. We seek to “RicanStruct” the literature regarding PuertoRican students to include models that reflect success andhope. Finally, the article extends the theory of culturallyresponsive pedagogy (CRP) to DiaspoRicans in order tocombat the colonial pedagogies in which many PuertoRican students are embedded and to promote schoolsuccess for all Puerto Ricans in the Diaspora."
