Abstract

Experiments have been performed to determine the local and average transfer coefficients on a vertical surface cooled by a piezoelectric fan. Piezoelectric fan consisted of two plastic blades vibrating back and forth and moving 180 degrees out of phase with each other causing air to be forced radially outwards and toward a nearby vertical surface. The experiments encompassed data runs where local mass transfer measurements were made on the vertical surface for three fan-to-surface separations. The experiments were performed using the naphthalene sublimation technique. Of particular note is the high mass transfer on the surface in the immediate vicinity of the vibrating blades.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
