Abstract

Nitride and/or diazenide ions in the octahedral holes of nearly close-packed arrangements of Sr2+ ions (see picture) characterize the new compounds described herein. They were obtained as single-phase products by oxidation of Sr2N with molecular nitrogen under high pressure.
