Polymorphisms in <i>C2</i>, <i>CFB</i> and <i>C3</i> are associated with progression to advanced age related macular degeneration associated with visual loss

Abstract

This study provides insights into the genetic pathogenesis of AMD. Five genes have now been shown to be independently involved in progression from intermediate disease (before vision loss has occurred) to advanced disease in which blindness is frequent.
