Abstract

Islanding phenomenon can occur when a distribution line circuit, connected with a large number of PV generation systems, is opened. Islanding must be eliminated as rapidly as possible, because this phenomenon can cause many problems. This paper presents results of islanding tests, with a preventive method of power capacitor insertion. Insertion of capacitors during islanding is effective to get rid of the islanding phenomenon in a short time. This approach, involving the use of capacitors in the utility distribution circuit, promises to eliminate the need to provide an additional islanding detection function on the part of the PV power system.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
