A new and effective space vector PWM control of six-phase voltage source inverters fed split-phase induction motors is presented in this paper. The proposed approach is based on three-phase space vector modulation (SVM) techniques, thereby, it inherently eliminates the 5th, 7th, 17th, 19th, ...harmonic currents without extensive computations. Furthermore, the paper utilizes a classification algorithm for the implementation of the SVM which improves the simplicity, accuracy, and the construction execution speed. A comparison is made between the results obtained from the proposed approach, and those from the conventional space vector modulation and the space vector modulation based on a vector decomposition technique. Both feedforward (V/f control), and feedback (vector control) schemes are addressed. Simulation results provided verify the validity of the proposed scheme.
