Privacy protection is a very important issue and solutions must be developed for wide acceptance of location based services (LBSs) in wireless applications. Current approaches rely mostly on the use of privacy policies to describe and solve this problem in an ad hoc way. In this paper, we propose a method based on the three-dimensional access control model to support privacy requirements. We show that our method can better describe and support user location privacy requirements in LBSs. By introducing the notions of privacy-concerning subjects and enhancing the traditional access control mechanism, we demonstrate how our method can provide all the privacy-concerning users with the necessary means of controlling access to private location information.
