Dentifrice usage and ingestion data were collected under simulated home-use conditions among groups 2 to 4, 5 to 7, 11 to 13, and 20 to 35 years of age. Average dentifrice usage for these age groups ranged from 0.86 to 1.39 gm per brushing. Average dentifrice ingestion values ranged from 0.30 to 0.04 gm per brushing; ingestion decreased as age increased. Chronic usage conditions were simulated with a statistical model to obtain realistic estimates of the 90th and 95th percentile ingestion.
