Abstract

Sodium bicarbonate loading and continuous infusion was associated with a lower incidence of acute renal dysfunction in cardiac surgical patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass. The findings of this pilot study justify further investigation. (ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT00334191).
