Mesoscopic Metallosupramolecular Texturing by Hierarchic Assembly

Abstract

In a two-stage assembly protocol, regularly spaced transition-metal islands on a Au(111) surface are employed to steer the formation and organization of metallo-supramolecular nanosystems (see picture). Following terephthalate exposure, Fe–terephthalate linkages evolve between next-neighbor Fe islands.
