Abstract

Despite morphologic similarities, there are genetic and epigenetic differences between TCC in the upper and lower urinary tracts. Methylation occurs commonly in urinary tract tumors, may affect carcinogenic mechanisms, and is a prognostic marker and a potential therapeutic target.
