Tracheostomy decannulation: Implication on respiratory mechanics

Abstract

Inspiratory time increased after decannulation, and arterial blood gas levels and respiratory mechanics did not change for the whole cohort. Individual changes in work of breathing are considerable and correlate closely to changes in airway resistance.
