Abstract Higher‐order perturbation corrections are considered to the stopping power formula, i.e., the Bloch correction and the Barkas effect, which causes a difference of the stopping power for positive and negative charged particles. For this purpose, a semiclassical harmonic oscillator model is presented for the theory of the stopping power. It is shown that the contributions from the close collision is more important than those from the distant collision for the Barkas effect.
