Abstract The separation of linear polymers of racemic 3‐methyl‐1‐pentene, 3,7‐dimethyl‐1‐octene, and 4‐methyl‐1‐hexene in fractions having optical activity of opposite sign by adsorption chromatography on crystalline optically active poly‐α‐olefins has been investigated and intrinsic viscosity, melting point, and IR‐stereoregularity index of the successively eluted fractions have been determined. The degree of separation achieved in the experiments has been roughly evaluated on the basis of literature data on the rotatory power of different fractions of the corresponding optically active poly‐α‐olefins. The influence of the structural relationship between supporting polymer and polymer to be separated on the degree of separation is discussed.
