Summary A case is described in which one ml. of Syntometrine was inadvertently administered to a newborn infant instead of Vitamin K. Profound respiratory depression and convulsions occurred as a result, necessitating prolonged ventilatory assistance. Recovery was complete. It is recommended that the routine administration of Vitamin K be deferred until the infant is admitted to a postnatal ward or a nursery.
