Abstract The paper deals with eight Rhyncaphytoptid mites collected from South India, of which five species and one genus are new to science : Cheiracus sulcatus Keifer (1977) Diptilomiopus artocarpae, sp. nov.; Diptilomiopus camerae, sp. nov.; Diptihmiopus cocculae, sp. nov.; Diptiiomlopus integrifoliae, sp. nov.; Diptilomiopus jevremovici Keifer (1960); Diptihmiopus knorri Keifer (1974) and Neorhynacus rojendrani, gen. et sp. nov.
