The Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), Japan, launched the engineering test satellite for space communications in February, 1997, which is called MUSES-B (the second Mu Space Engineering Satellite) [6]. Its astronomical object is to perform the VLBI Space Observatory Program (VSOP) [7], and it is now renamed HALCA (Highly Advanced Laboratory forCommunications and Astronomy). It has a deployable high precision mesh antenna system [8,9], whose effective diameter is eight meter, and it was successfully deployed in late February, 1997 to become a first large full-scale high precision space antenna in the world. In this paper, the planned deployment sequence of the antenna system on ground and the actual sequence in space are introduced. Some results of motion and response analysis of the satellite during deployment estimated by onboard attitude sensors are also shown.
