Multiple mucosal neuromas, pheochromocytoma and medullary carcinoma of the thyroid—a syndrome

Abstract

A n analysis o f 17 cases of the syndrome of multiple mucosal neuromas, pheochrornocytoma a n d medullary carcinoma OF the thyroid is presented and its relationship t o similar syndromes discussed. T h e mucosal neuromas primarily involve the lips, anterior tongue, conjunctiva and nasal and laryngeal mucosa. Rledullated corneal nerve fibcrs traverse the cornea a n d anastornose in the pupillary area. A hlarfanoid build and diverticulosis may be associated findings.
