Abstract For the evaluation of color design, a multiple linear system analogous to the human visual perceptual system was proposed. Using computer‐generated random color patterns, a psychological test was performed and its results were analyzed in terms of the Fourier transform of the color patterns. It was clearly concluded that the power spectrum obtained by the Fourier transform of the patterns had characteristic meanings at regions of very‐low, low, medium, and high spatial frequencies.
