Move over, platinum: A Pt-free direct hydrazine fuel cell (DHFC), which uses an anion-exchange polymer electrolyte, shows a maximum power-generation performance of 0.5 W cm−2 (1250 mA cm−2 at 0.4 V). Its performance is comparable to that of the hydrogen polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) and far exceeds that of the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC).
