Chloro-bridged cyclometalated Pd(II) or Pt(II) targeted to sulfur of N-((tert-butyloxy)carbonyl)-l-methionine p-nitrophenyl ester are effective in hydrolysis of p-nitrophenolate at pH 8.0 (0.01 M phosphate) and 23 °C. The highest rate acceleration (535 times) compared to the free ester is observed for the apo complex of Pt(II).
