Abstract

Abstract An efficient method for the synthesis of perdeuterated ferrocene (ferrocene‐ d 10 ), 1,1′‐dimethyloctadeuteroferrocene, 1‐ethylnonadeuteroferrocene, 1,1′‐diethyloctadeuteroferrocene, 1‐deuteroacetylferrocene, 1,1′‐deuterodiacetylferrocene, 1‐acetylnonadeuteroferrocene and 1,1′‐diacetyloctadeuteroferrocene is described, using acid‐catalysed exchange reactions, where the deutero reagent can be generated in situ from trifluoroacetic anhydride (TFAA) and D 2 O.
