Investigation load estimation methods with the use of AMI metering for distribution system analysis

Abstract

With the advent of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), new opportunities exist to improve loading estimates for distribution system analysis. These improvements in estimating customers' load can have a significant impact on both distribution planning and real-time distribution state estimation. Various techniques for load allocation are compared to a case with actual AMI data for all customers.
