Abstract

Abstract—Measurement of the energy expended during growth of a fatigue crack in the near threshold region and how it is affected by a water vapor environment is coupled with direct observation of the crack tip to produce a modification of the damage accumulation model for fatigue crack growth which incorporates threshold and environmental effects.
