Measurement of rainfall by dual-wavelength microwaveattenuation

Abstract

The first results from an experiment to test the theory that good estimates of path-averaged rainfall may be obtained from the difference in attenuation at two frequencies along a microwave path are described. This has applications to rainfall measurement for storm water management and flood warning.
