Reaction of Phosphonium Ylides with Alkyldichloroboranes

Abstract

New, interesting bis-ylides 1, R1R4, are formed from Ph3PCHR1 and R3BCl2 in a 4 : 1 molar ratio. When the 1 : 1 adduct of these two species is allowed to react with the ylide Ph3PCHR4 (3 : 1), on the other hand, the unsymmetrically substituted 1, R1 ≠ R4, is formed. These bis-ylides may be suitable as complex ligands.
