Adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colon cancer is used extensively, especially for patients under the age of 75 years. However, treatment rates decline dramatically with chronologic age. Because patients in their 70s and even 80s have a reasonable life expectancy, further efforts are needed to ensure that elderly patients have the opportunity to make informed decisions regarding this potentially curative treatment.
